Workout facilities open with restrictions in place
As the calendar turns to June, athletes across the state are being allowed to get back to school facilities to train. For Seiling’s athletes, that means they can get back in the gym as of this week.
In mid-March, the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association suspended all extracurricular activities before eventually cancelling them for good shutting schools down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with restrictions loosening and school year over, facilities have slowly been opened back up to conduct graduations over the past few weeks.
Still, in order to put on such events, schools had to abide by state and local restrictions and school activities such as sports were still off limits. However, the OSSAA’s decision not to extend the cancelation of school activities past June 1, as well as not put in the threephase plan that was introduced to them in a special meeting on May 22, made it possible for activities to return moving forward.
That is what Seiling is choosing do with their summer workouts. Athletes of any sport or being allowed to access the facilities through scheduled times that ensure that weight rooms and gyms will not be overcrowded.
