Top Five Sports Moments for 2019-20 Year; Football Wildcats get revenge on Pioneer
In the third installment of the top sports moments for Seiling over the past school year, we delve back into week three of the football season. The Wildcats were 2-0, but week three would bring back their familiar opponent in Pioneer-Pleasant Vale.
The last time these two teams met was in the first round of the playoffs in 2018. Seiling handled the Mustangs easily during the regular season, but heading into that postseason matchup, the injury bug had taken its toll on the Wildcats’ roster.
Still, Seiling was able to garner a lead going into halftime of that contest thanks to a few big plays in the first half. Unfortunately, the Wildcats struggled mightily coming out of the locker room, and were eliminated by a score of 44-22.
“We’ve played them every year since I’ve been here,” explained Coach Gary Manuel. “There have been some great games. There have been maybe two or three games that were blowouts for either team, and there have been some close ones too. They are always going to be good and competitive, and I’m all about playing competitive teams in our non-district games. That is what makes our team better. We lost to them in the playoffs the year before, but even in that game we were up 12 at halftime. It’s always going to be a competitive game with them.”
