Scrimmage proves Seiling has plenty to be excited about

Seiling hosted a quartet of teams including Laverne, Buffalo, Burns Flat-Dill City and Waynoka for a scrimmage last Friday that saw everyone get a plethora of opportunities to compete prior to opening up their regularseason schedules.

The event was extremely competitive as the five teams in attendance were coming off seasons that produced a sum of 42 total victories, with many of which expecting to make a return-trip to the playoffs this year.

While scrimmages like this usually produce a high amount of intensity and mistakes, it’s an opportunity for each coaching staff to assess where their team lies in their preparation for the upcoming season. In Seiling’s case, it gave them an opportunity to answer some important questions about the current roster.

For starters, coming off a season where the Wildcats’ leading rusher consistently set the tone for Seiling’s physical brand of football, Coach Manuel needed to figure out how to replace Brock Hedrick. His plan is to feed both Bryson Gore and Payton Gregory a steady diet of carries this fall, and the each of them justified his confidence on their first carry of the event.
