Recent shutdown puts all Spring sports in jeopardy
As of last week, all sporting events involving Seiling Public Schools have been suspended due to the recent pandemic of COVID-19. While the initial plan is for kids to return school on April 6, that date is tentative with a strong possibility of it being extended or even having the rest of the school year cancelled.
If school does return to session, the latest reports would have schools being allowed to make the decision on competing in sporting events moving forward. Seiling was set to begin both junior high and high school baseball, as well as track at the elementary, junior high and high school levels in mid-March.
However, only the high school baseball team was able to get started prior to the shurdown, with Seiling dropping the opener to Vici 3-1, before beating Sharon-Mutual 13-4. Additionally, Superintendent Randy Seifried realeased the following two statements on the shutdown and protecting against the spread of COVID-19.
