Powerlifters claim 4th at 8-man state meet
Competing in powerlifting for just the second year, the Seiling Wildcats continue to take monumental strides, as evident by their fourth-place team showing in the 8-Man State Meet last week in Snyder.
The Wildcats tallied 80 total points while having lifters place in six of the 11 different weight divisions, finishing only behind Caddo, Snyder and Fox (which was only one point ahead in third place). A total of 27 schools were in attendance competing in the state event for 8-Man playing teams.
“Last year, we went to four powerlifting meets and had two guys make it to state,” Seiling coach Gary Manuel said. “We didn’t have more than two guys medal in any meet last year and the first meet we went to this year we had four guys medal and then had six medal at Snyder. It wasn’t like there was just a handful of teams there either. They had 27 schools, so it was really good competition and I thought the kids did really well.
