Nyberg voted to OCCTCA All-State Track Team
The Oklahoma Cross Country and Track Coaches Association released their 2020 All-State Track Team, naming Seiling’s Brya Nyberg on the Class A Girls’ Team in early June. Despite the track season being cancelled due to the spread of COVID-19, the coaches decided to honor those athletes who were expected to have big years in track and field by putting these rosters together.
Traditionally, All-State teams for track are determined at the State Meets held in May. However, with the track schedule only getting into the first week, and some teams like Seiling not even getting to compete, the coaches decided that this was the best route to take in order to honor those top athletes that had their final season stripped away from them.
The honor caps an impressive career for Nyberg on the Lady Cats’ track team. As a junior, Nyberg earned third place at the State Meet in both the 400 and 800-meter races. She also qualified for state on the 800-meter relay team that included Madison Klaver, Emalee Shook and Shelby Seabourn.
