Mustangs’ size too much for Seiling to handle in season opener
The Seiling Wildcats opened up the 2020 football season with the Pioneer-Pleasant Vale Mustangs and struggled mightily on the road to the tune of a 60-12 loss.
Coach Gary Manuel knew going into the game that Pioneer’s mass and strength would be a tough challenge for his young, undersized team. Seiling was hoping to spread the Mustangs out and take advantage of their athleticism in space.
“We knew going in this wasn’t a great matchup for us,” stated Coach Manuel. “As coaches, we knew we had our work cut out for us because they were so big and physical. We felt like if we could get a couple of early stops and try and keep the ball away from the with our offense, we’d be in good shape, but we never really stopped them.”
