Lady Cats head into break unbeaten; boys 3-2
The Seiling High School basketball teams finished up the first portion of the season strong with a pair of wins each prior to the Christmas Break, as each defeat both Hammon on the road and Waukomis at home. The two wins put the No. 4 Lady Cats at 5-0, while the 16th-ranked Seiling boys back over .500.
In Hammon, the Lady Cats got off to a sizzling start thanks to a trio of freshmen. Kenly Gore scored eight points in the opening frame, while Braci Nyberg put in seven and Isabella Hammons added five.
The scoring outburst saw them double up the Lady Warriors in the opening quarter, 24-12, and that lead grew to 16 by halftime. Another terrific frame by Hammons in the third quarter helped Seiling swell the lead to 31 heading into the fourth and the Lady Cats went on to win, 75-44.
