Lady Cats drill Laverne in season opener
While it wasn’t a particularly sharp start in the opening quarter, the top-ranked Seiling Lady Cats quickly flexed their muscle on the way to a dominant 80-26 romp at Laverne to open the basketball season.
Seiling forced 22 turnovers in the first half alone and rode decisive 18-0 and 24-0 runs during an incredible 42-3 burst. That put things way out of reach before Lady Cat head coach Brady Hamar went deep into his bench over the final quarter and a half.
“We were pretty excited to get out there and play our first game, probably a little too excited early,” Hamar admitted afterward. “We jumped out and did some things uncharacteristic. We had a lot of turnovers in that first quarter but settled down and did things right the rest of the half. We were a lot better defensively and didn’t allow too many open shots in the second quarter.
