Lady Bison end season against Sasakwa

YUKON - Bidding for their first state tournament victory in nearly two decades, Leedey girls head coach Lance Carpenter couldn’t have scripted a better start on Thursday night of the Class B State Tournament.

The Lady Bison scorched the nets for seven threepointers in the opening period to build a big early lead but major foul trouble and attrition eventually took their toll in a 71-65 loss to fourth-ranked Sasakwa in the Class B first round contest.

“We got off to a blazing start but just didn’t turn out the way we wanted it to,” Carpenter said afterward. “We built a good lead but just got in tremendous foul trouble. You just can’t afford to have those starters in so much foul trouble all night long.”
