Junior high softballers win Woodward tourney
Seiling’s junior high softball squad finished off a sensational undefeated week on Saturday to claim the Woodward Junior High Tournament championship.
The Lady Cats began the week with victories against Hammon and Thomas and then faced a host of larger classification schools in the tournament. They toppled Guymon and Alva in the first two contests before notching a 4-2 win against Woodward in the title.
In that championship contest, Seiling actually got no-hit but still managed to scratch across enough runs for the triumph.
Head coach Bryan Gore was extremely pleased with his young squad’s performance.
“I am real proud of the girls,” he commented. “They had a great tournament against three good sized schools. We only gave up two hits to Woodward in the finals and executed some bunts and situational stuff ourselves. We were able to capitalize on a few Woodward mistakes to get our runs.
