Bison basketball finishes season in State Semifinals

Few basketball teams in the state can match the state tournament experience of the Leedey Bison upperclassmen. So when Thursday’s Class B state tournament opener against Indiahoma went to the fourth quarter tied at 45 they felt pretty good about their chances.

Playing in their sixth state basketball contest in the last three years, the key core of Bison delivered in a big way down the stretch, building a 10-point cushion before holding on for the 66-62 victory at Southern Nazarene’s Sawyer Center.

“These older guys have been here in basketball and been here in baseball year after year,” Leedey head coach Lance Carpenter said of his club’s state experience. “They have been in these situations time and time again. They just know how to take it to another level.
