Big plays spur Seiling to first victory of season
After a rough opening week Coach Gary Manuel and the Wildcats responded with a thrashing of their own to the tune of a 40-12 victory over Okeene despite not having freshman quarterback Kaden Manuel.
Things didn’t start great for Seiling. After forcing a punt on Okeene’s opening drive, the Wildcats fumbled their first snap of the game with the Whippets recovering at the Seiling nine-yard line. Two plays later, Okeene was on the board to put the Wildcats in a 6-0 hole.
“I wasn’t thrilled with how we started the game, but that’s the same way we looked in pre-game,” explained Coach Manuel. “We were just going through the motions, and it showed when we got on the field. It was bad. You’d think we would have been more focused after getting our butts beat the last time we stepped on the field. We’ve got to start with a lot more intensity and be ready to play.”
