Wildcats open season Friday at Carnegie
A year ago the Seiling Wildcats came out gunning, catching virtually everyone by surprise in a 51-20 thrashing of a Carnegie squad that began the season ranked fourth in Class B.
The fortunes of both teams changed with that game as Seiling opened with seven straight victories while Carnegie spiraled to a 2-7 finish.
Despite the convincing win, Carnegie’s athletic passing attack gave Seiling fits as they racked up 310 yards through the air before the halftime break.
With a new head coach on the other side this season, Seiling head coach Gary Manuel isn’t sure what to expect when the same two teams open the 2019 campaign at 7 p.m. Friday night this time in Carnegie.
“They have a new coach with a new philosophy,” Manuel stated. “They are big and athletic. A good looking, physical football team. We are going to have our work cut out for us. They have got some guys that can run as well. I don’t think they are as fast as we are but are so big in a lot of positions.
