Turnout outstanding for Annual Walleye Rodeo
After having to reschedule Oklahoma’s oldest and largest fishing tournament due to the recent pandemic, Canton was finally able to host its 53rd Annual Walleye Rodeo last week. Despite the threat of coronavirus still present, the event nearly matched their turnout from a year ago, registering 645 anglers compared to 677 in 2019.
This year, Waukomisnative, Larry Hromas reeled in the grand-prize winning walleye, weighing in at 6.06 pounds. That fish earned him the $1,000 check, courtesy of Lucky Star Casino, as well as a new rod and reel, as well as a fishing mount for his prize-winning fish.
Canton’s own Matt Swartwood finished in second place with his walleye that tipped the scales at 5.71 pounds. Swartwood received a check for $750, courtesy of Lucky Star Casino as well.
