A Night for Courtney

Feb. 1 was a “Night for Courtney.” Friends, family, and community members gathered about to support Courtney Nichole Van Buren who was diagnosed with Keratoconus last year.

Courtney was a 2006 graduate of Seiling high school. She has a two-year-old daughter, Kaidances. In late 2016 she was diagnosed a genetic disorder that causes rapid blindness. Keratoconus causes the cornea to thin and bulge, resulting in blurred vision. The disease is rapid and often affects people in their teens and early twenties. Approximately one in 1000 people are diagnosed with Keratoconus.
