Larry Milligan tabbed as new SHS principal
Long-time educator Larry Milligan was recently approved by the Seiling Board of Education to take over the reins as the school’s next secondary principal and athletic director.
Former principal Greg Gregory will move into the superintendent’s role on July 1 and Milligan will move into his new position at that time, coming from Binger-Oney where he has spent the past five years in the same role.
Milligan was one of a number of candidates that applied for the job. Prior to his stint at Binger-Oney he was principal at Class 4A Wagoner as well as in Colorado where he was an assistant principal, athletic director, and baseball coach. His experience as a high school principal and athletic director was certainly a factor that played into his hiring, and Milligan made it clear that he is excited to become part of the Seiling community.
“I investigated everything about the job and community,” explained Milligan. “I looked into everybody. I talked to a lot of people that knew Mr. Gregory and knew the Seiling school district. I even talked to some people from schools that were rivals in sports to the Wildcats. I never heard a negative word. No one had a bad thing to day about them. I could not find one negative comment regarding a teacher, administrator or kid. That’s one of the biggest things that attracted me the most. So, I applied and was very fortunate to be the one selected. I am very excited about it.”
