Funding provided for rural fire departments
Enel Green Power North America (EGP), the state’s largest operator of wind energy, announced today that it will provide $35,000 in funding to the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association (OSFA) to support fire departments across the state. The funding, which comes as the state heads into the 2019 wildfire season, was presented to OSFA at an event in Dewey County, one of the hardest hit communities during the 2018 wildfires. In attendance were Representative Mike Sanders, Representative Carl Newton, Senator Casey Murdock, Steve Lumry and Sheri Nickel of the OFSA and Trish Williams, Phillip Edwards and Jonathan Gray of Enel Green Power North America.
“It is a privilege to represent these 175 departments that responded to the massive wildfires in northwestern Oklahoma and to be entrusted by Enel to coordinate this much appreciated emergency response funding to benefit these departments for their heroic efforts,” said Sheri Nickels, Administrative Director of the Oklahoma State Firefighters Association.
