Dewey County Abstract still going strong since 1896
One of the oldest businesses in Dewey County, if not THE oldest business, is Dewey County Abstract. It was started by J.E. `Jim Ruble, T.J. Ruble’s great grandfather, in 1896. The business remained in the Ruble family until 2005.
Jeanne Weber purchased the business from the Ruble family in 2005 after the death of T.J. Ruble. Technically, it was still in the Ruble family as her mother, Lois, was married to T.J. Ruble. Lois worked at the abstract office until she married T.J. in 1987. Weber has worked at Dewey County Abstract for 45 years. She worked 3 years in the Dewey County Clerk’s office so she has been involved with deeds and such for nearly 50 years.
In 2019, Weber sold the business to John McCue of Fairview. McCue also owns Fairview Abstract in Fairview. She is still the manager of Dewey County Abstract.
Weber’s parents were Melvin and Lois Riesland. She was married to Ronnie Clark. They had 2 daughters: Connie Smith and her husband Rhett of Taloga, and Keri Whitley and her husband Brandon of Vici.
Ronnie Clark died in 1986. Weber married Mike Weber in 1992. He is a retired OSU Extension Agent and is currently Ag instructor at Taloga school.
Jeanne has 2 granddaughters and 2 great grandsons.
