Politics and the press in the U.S. is almost as antagonistic as it was at the turn of the 20th Century.

Almost as antagonistic?

President Theodore Roosevelt wrote “The Man with the Muckrake” in 1906. He presented the speech on April 14, 1906.

Roosevelt’s speech borrowed heavily on the ideas of John Bunyan’s 1678 classic Pilgrim’s Progress as he illustrated the antagonist character of the Man with the Muck Rake.
