Can Cattleman Survive Dramatic Change?

The cattle ranching industry has significant impact on the economy, the culture, and the diet of Oklahomans.

Today, there are increasing numbers of factors negatively impacting beef production. The general public and even some producers are partially unaware of impending causes and outcomes.

Consider the following:

Nationwide, seventy five percent of feedlots, and a total of forty eight beef packing plants have closed. Tyson Foods, JBS, Cargill and National Beef are control about eighty five percent of U.S. beef slaughter and beef distribution.

Their profits are huge ($400 per head), and it significantly impacts producer’s profits and prices of meat. R Calf has sued the major packers for market manipulation and excessive profits.
