Verna Jean “Jeanie” Hunt Geiger
Verna Jean “Jeanie” Hunt Geiger, 68, passed away peacefully on March 30th, 2019 in Oklahoma City after a short but well-fought battle with cancer. Jeanie was born on March 3rd, 1951 to Leon and Faye Hunt at Fairview Hospital. She was the 5th of 9 children and spent her early years on the family farm northwest of Longdale, OK. She moved with her family to Taloga, where she graduated high school in 1969. She soon married the love of her life, Larry Don Geiger.
Jeanie initially attended SWOSU in Weatherford on a vocal music scholarship, and later graduated with a B.S. in Business Information Systems. Jeanie and Larry celebrated 47 years of marriage just before his passing in 2016. They lived briefly in Taloga and Oklahoma City before returning and settling in Longdale to raise their family.
In addition to aiding many as a tax preparer, Jeanie likely sold every direct marketing product developed from 1970 to 2000. However, Jeanie’s career was as Matriarch of her family and her 4 boys. She attended the Longdale Community Church and was active in the Lioness Club. Jeanie loved music, often called upon to sing at weddings, funerals or other celebrations around town. She especially loved Elvis. Jeanie lived a long and very loved life, was admired by many and will truly be missed.
