Marilyn Ramey, 82-yearold Mooreland resident, passed away Monday, December 17, 2018 in Woodward. Funeral services were held Friday, December 21 at the Woodward Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.
Rita Marilyn (Squires) Ramey was born August 1, 1936 on the family farm in Dewey County, Oklahoma to Albert Leroy and Ida Mary (Thompson) Squires. Marilyn attended Oakwood schools and attended college at Southwestern.
Marilyn was united in marriage to Wilbur Loyd Ramey on December 9, 1955 at the Canton Y Church of Christ in Dewey County, Oklahoma. Shortly after marriage they moved to Friend, Kansas. In 1963, they returned to the family farm southeast of Mooreland where they have resided since that time. Marilyn worked at Cowden Manufacturing as a ticket maker prior to her marriage. She was also a bus driver for the Mooreland Public Schools for 13 years.
She was a member of the Woodward Church of Christ. She was President of Woodward County Extension Homemakers for two years and she was a member of the Triple M Extension Club, GFWC Altrusa Club, and served as the Mooreland Junior 4-H leader for seven years. Marilyn was named the Woodward County Extension Homemaker of the year in 1973.
