Jacob “Leo” Hopper
Jacob “Leo” Hopper passed from this life on July 23, 2019 in Clinton, OK at the age of 89. Leo was born on August 2, 1929 to Leslie and Jessie Hopper in Mutual, OK. He grew up in Mutual attending both Mutual Elementary and Mutual High School, where he graduated from in 1947. On June 23, 1953 Leo enlisted in the Army where he served until May 11, 1954 and would attain the rank of PFC Technician. On February 2, 1956 Leo married the love of his life Patty Squires at Woodward, OK. To this union was born five children, daughter Marva Lee Hopper, sons James “Jamie” Hopper, Jon Hopper, Jeff Hopper, and Jacob “Jake” Hopper. Leo and the family lived in Woodward, OK from 1956-1961, moving to Mutual, OK where he lived until his passing away in 2019.
Leo was a farmer and rancher who loved reading, hunting, and photography. He was a member of the American Agriculture Movement, Dunlap Cemetery Board, and Sharon- Mutual School Board. Leo was also a member of the Mutual Methodist Church.
Leo is preceded in death by his wife Patty Hopper; father Leslie “Les” Hopper; mother Jessie Hopper; daughter Marva Lee Hopper; son Jeff Hopper; son Jacob “Jake” Hopper; brother Marvin Hopper; sister Marcella Symes; and sister, Marianna Noble.
Leo is survived by his sons, James “Jamie” Hopper and wife Terri of Mutual, OK, Jon Hopper and wife Cheryl of Mutual, OK; sister-in-law Irene “Shorty” Hopper; and brother-in-law Cy Squires; 17 grandchildren; 16 greatgrandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of loved ones and friends.
Memorial Services were held on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the Mutual Christian Church with Pastor Don Taylor presiding.
Donation’s in Leo’s honor may be made to the Dunlap Cemetery with Redinger Funeral Home (Box 236, Seiling, OK 73663) serving as custodian of the funds.
